Founder of the United Kingdom Sailing Acadeny

"Since I founded the UKSA in 1987, I have taken great pleasure in being able to watch the team and the facilities evolve into the organisation you see today. I trust that you will value your time at the Academy. The experience of life on campus will bring you more than just your training and qualifications. You may make lifelong friends, you may find your attitudes changed forever, but most importantly, I hope that you will be inspired by your own potential."

As Patron of the UKSA, I have watched it establish its pre-eminence as a non profit making organisation specialising in teaching sailing and the provision of career training for the Yachting and Watersports industry. The Academy offers people of all ages the ideal platform to further both skills and confidence in all aspects of sports afloat.

The excellent facilities at the Academy are coupled with a policy of constant refinement to the programmes to ensure that everyone embarking on Academy training is guaranteed the best possible tuition and support en-route to excellence in their chosen activities.

As a charity and non profit making organisation, the Academy aspires to help a wide variety of valuable and worthwhile sailing endeavours. I have seen first hand how valuable projects like the restoration and global voyage of Gipsy Moth IV have been inspiring young people to embrace adventure and believe in their own potential. It is comforting to know that all who take part in activities at UKSA are contributing to this valuable work through their support of the Academy.

For those looking to embark on a new career in yachting or watersports, the marine leisure industry offers a great deal of adventure and excitement. It is very important that young people wishing to enter what is an increasingly regulated profession should receive the right training and qualifications from the start.

I am sure that in launching your career from the UK Sailing Academy you are providing yourself with a springboard for your future success.

Best wishes and happy sailing.
