Which programme is for me?

The Academy's core programmes are outlined here. The range is designed to meet the needs and interests of individuals. All are designed to provide maximum learning in minimum time and go far beyond the requirements for gaining employment in the industry.

 

Yachting Cadetship
Duration: 3 years
Designed for those seeking long-term careers on the largest commercial sail and motor superyachts. UKSA Cadets are carefully selected to represent the elite of our young career training students. On completion, work as Deck Officer on superyachts up to 3000gt, or Chief Mate on yachts up to 500gt, or captain of vessels up to 200gt.

  • Training includes two years paid employment and development.

  • Training to RYA Yachtmaster (Ocean) in both sail and motor, plus all MCA training modules to Deck Officer of the Watch (3000gt).

  • A Foundation Degree is available within the programme, with an option for full Honours Degree on completion of a years' study at University.

  • Applicants must be Under 25.

 

Ocean Graduate
Duration: 23 weeks
If you want to maximize your learning and skills before launching your new career, the Ocean Graduate Plus offers the full nine yards. Qualify to work on both sail and motor yachts anywhere in the world working on ocean passages as you wish.

  • This comprehensive programme comes with one to one mentoring and also includes training towards the new MCA Master 200gt, RYA Oceanmaster,racing techniques, engineering and ship security officer training.

  • The programme also includes a comprehensive 3000nm training experience including atleast one 600 mile ocean passages, giving you the time and experience to really polish your seamanship skills.

  • Any age.

 

Motor Yacht Skipper Training
Duration: 12 weeks
If Motoryachts are your passion, this is the career course for you. Provides the training and qualifications to skipper commercially run motor yachts up to 24M.

  • Also qualifies you as first mate on larger vessels and for ocean passages and includes some engineering training.

  • Any age.

 

Professional Yacht Engineer
Duration: 10 weeks
Prepares for work aboard large yachts in an engineering capacity, including relevant MCA qualifications.

  • Also ideal for those wanting to work for overseas charter companies as flotilla engineer or base engineer.

  • Any age.

 

Crew Training
Duration: 6 weeks
Designed to offer the qualifications and experience needed to work as deck crew on large superyachts worldwide. The programme also works towards your MCA Deck Rating Certificate.

  • Ideal for watersports instructors wanting to move into the yachting industry or as a gap year option.

  • Under 25.

 

Marine Hospitality Training
Duration: 29 days
Designed to offer the qualifications and experience needed to work on large luxury yachts in an interior crew or host capacity.

  • Ideal for couples considering luxury charter market work.

  • Worth considering for anyone looking at working on very large yachts, where service standards are of the utmost importance to career development.

  • Any age.

 

Marine Business Management
Duration: 10 weeks
Most Senior and well paid positions in yachting require sound business and management skills. This course develops those skills, providing a thorough understanding of management within the Marine industry.

  • Essential for anyone considering building their own business future in the industry.

  • Prepare for work at a strategic decision making level for fast track success and quicker promotion.

  • Relevant to the full scope of UKSA career training in watersports and yachting.

  • Any age.
