Course overview
UKSA can facilitate the Yachtmaster Ocean oral examination. A one day refresher course before the examination can be provided separately on request.
Pre-requisite experience:
At the exam you will be required to produce records of a voyage of minimum 600 miles, 200 miles of which were more than 50 miles from land on which you took an active part in the safe navigation and planning. In addition, records of sights including as a minimum, sun-run-sun and compass error.

Chief Mate (Yachts less than 300gt)
Examination and assessment:
The oral examination takes about 60 minutes. Examinations can be arranged by UKSA.
