The MSSC is currently seeking to appoint a Cook for the square rigged brig TS ROYALIST based in Gosport. TS ROYALIST undertakes 6 day voyages with 24 Cadets and up 9 adults onboard around the UK. There are occasional deployments further afield when the ship participates in the Tall Ships' Races. Applicants should have the requisite experience and ability to cook at sea to provide meals for the embarked crew from a small galley, together with ordering and management of victualling stores. The ability to work effectively with permanent and relief crew members and young people is essential. There are opportunities for prospective staff to undertake sea time in the vessel. The successful applicant will be required to become/remain a uniformed member of the Sea Cadet Corps and will be responsible to the Offshore Commander.

Clipper are looking for 4 or 5 enthusiastic & capable crew to help in their trials for race skippers for the 09/10 race. This is happening on October 15th to 17th. Great opportunity! Deckhand required for 72' Jongert currently in Antigua planning a world cruise from January to Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Turks & Caicos and Cuba until mid April. Then onto April - May.
Cuba to Bermuda to Azores. From the Azores we will head to either Galway Ireland or north Spain (this will not be decided until nearer the time). It will also go on to take part in the Blue Water Rally, and then head on to Thailand/Singapore etc ending in June 2011. This job will be very big in terms of experience but will not pay a lot. It would be ideal for some one who needs more sea miles and the real life of cruising. The yacht is currently on the hard in Antigua. Yacht is private but many non paying friends/guests family will visit and need to be treated as if they were charter guests. We will be happy to speak with people at all levels of experience but would require that they have at least 50 days at sea and have a minimum of RYA day skipper. If we are paying travel exs they must sign on for a minimum of 12 months.If a person pays their own travel expenses they can sign on for a minimum of 3 months but no pay would apply. Deckhand position available on a UK based 35M Private Motor Yacht starting 1 Oct 08. It is a full time position with the yacht being based in Lymington. We have a crew of 8, and he/she will be required to share a cabin. The Itinery for the yacht is winters in the Solent (possibility of yard periods) and summers in Scotland and around Ireland. Obviously the yacht is able at any point to re-locate elsewhere but for the foreseeable future we will remain around the British Isles. I am looking for someone preferably with their STCW 95 and their Yachtmasters, but am happy to look at someone unqualified if they were to show the right desire and motivation for the job.


General duties include the upkeep/maintenance and general appearance of the exterior of the yacht. Will be taught all aspects of painting/varnishing and preparation. They will be required to assist as a lookout on all navigational watches. There are 3 deck crew in total; Mate/Eng, Bosun and the Deckhand. It is a small yacht and we strive to provide a first class service to all our guests so it is vital that all candidates are team players and are willing to help each department when and where necessary. It is important the candidates are punctual, hardworking, honest individuals, experience is not necessary, all requirements can be taught onboard, but I would be looking for someone who would be generally enthusiastic about the position and working in the UK. This company operates two International America's Cup Class yachts, NZL 10 and NZL 12, from Team New Zealand's '92 campaign in San Diego, based out in the Bahamas. The boats are utilised for corporate charters and operated as an excursion, match racing against each other, in Nassau. The crew are land based and the boats are day sailed only. They require candidates who have some experience, to come out as crew. Deliveries are on various yachts all over the world, but generally Med and Northern Europe. The company is looking to buid a file of candidates who can be called upon as and when required and eventually being Skippers for the company.

Delivery company looking to create a database of good crew who they can call on to help in the delivery part of their business. This would mainly be crew suitable as 1st mates - experienced and hold a Yachtmaster qualification, and those to fill the position as crew, holding something like a Dayskipper qualification and some experience. Y4 Engineer required for a new build 37 Meter M/Y, position to start in January 2009 with the new vessel due for delivery in May 2009. You will be primarily responsible for day to day maintenance and running repairs to the fleet of yachts, you will also assist both the skipper and the Host/Hostess with their tasks, including preparation of the yachts on turnaround day. You will take part in client briefings and those with appropriate sailing skills may also provide informal sailing instruction on board clients’ yachts, as well as undertaking yacht deliveries. You will maintain the tools and replenish spares, taking responsibility for any associated spending. You will participate fully in flotilla social events and must be clean and presentable. You will ideally have previous experience of yacht maintenance and marine systems, including engines, electrics, electronics and plumbing. You will be eager to further your knowledge and as a minimum have a mechanical bent with a basic understanding of electrical theory. Breakdown Engineer required in Ionian sea to provide 24 hour breakdown assistance and maintenance to sailing and motor yachts in the Ionian sea. Most of our destinations are only available by sea so we have large powerful rescue boats to enable our engineers to get to the vessel, we also have a fleet of vehicles fully equipped for dealing with major issues. Adventures Offshore is a Scout sail training charity which operates 2 Oyster 49 ketches, Ocean Scout and Offshore Scout, mainly on the East Coast, as well as entering the Tall Ships' Races each year. Both our yachts are based at Ipswich Haven Marina, with occasional short visits to other East or South Coast ports. Our cruising area often extends as far as UK south coast, Dutch, Belgian and French waters.
We are now looking for first mates to support the future development of the scheme and to provide a potential pool of future skippers.
First mates will need to be qualified to RYA Coastal Skipper practical level and hold, or be able to obtain, a valid Commercial Endorsement. You will also need to have extensive experience of sailing in a sail training environment and experience of working with young people.

Because of the increased workload faced by our senior staff skipper, and in order to add continuity during both the refit and the sailing season, OYT South intends to recruit a junior skipper at the end of the current season. This person will work under the direction of staff skipper Mark Todd, helping to manage the refit, skippering John Laing as needed but also sailing as first mate or in other roles as required, and assisting the charity in other ways - for example, pre-voyage preparation with clients.


The post might be an ideal step for someone relatively new to skippering a sail training vessel, and may be a suitable for a newly-qualified skipper or an experienced first mate who is ready to make the step up. Cremyll Sailing requires a Mate for their sail training vessel Moosk, a 100 year old gaff-rigged yawl used for sail training. The Ellen MacArthur Trust requires a first mate and a voyage co-ordinator for a six month contract (April 2009-End September 2009). In 2009 the Ellen MacArthur Trust will sail Round Britain with stopovers in 20 key ports. The voyage will be made up of 20 legs with over 100 young people recovering from cancer and leukaemia sailing on board. Each leg will be linked to the Hospital where the young people on board were treated including a visit to talk to the medical staff, those currently in treatment and their families about the voyage. The trip is a unique opportunity for the young people now in recovery to communicate with those in treatment. Candidate must be an experienced commercial endorsed Yachtmaster, able to be part of a high profile event and have a genuine interest in working with young people. A team is required to work on the Clipper 68s that have recently finished their second circumnavigation. The aim of the refit is to ready them for their next circumnavigation. The refit will start on the 1st October 2008 however the 13th October is also an option as a start date for some members of the team. Finish Date 30th May 2009. In close cooperation with Bermuda's school system, this challenging and exciting position offers the opportunity to play a major role in rekindling, within a large segment of Bermuda's youth, the curiosity and excitement for learning through the sea and aboard the foundation's sail training vessel, STV Spirit of Bermuda.
STV Spirit of Bermuda has a custom-built cold-moulded epoxy hull. A three-masted Bermudian rigged sail training vessel, she was built in the U.S. to ABS standards. Launched in August 2006, her LOD is 88' and displacement is 92 tons. Her area of operation will primarily be in Bermudian waters, the North Atlantic and the Caribbean.

A 39m Feadship that is both private and charter is currently looking for a Stew/deckhand with a SCUBA Instructor ticket to join their crew of 8, which consists of Kiwis, Australians and Spanish. The person will need to be very well presented and have a good personality. The yacht is currently in Tahiti. Medical insurance, 6 weeks annual leave paid holidays and emergency dental is covered by the yacht. Crewmember will need to commit to the boat for 12 months at least as the owner likes the crew to offer longevity. Person must like working in side as well. 2 Junior Steward/esses required for a busy 65m charter Motor Yacht that does the Med-Caribbean Milkrun. Currently in the S. France. Candidates must have STCW95 and suitable hospitality skills and knowledge. (Same yacht also looking for an experienced Bosun.)

27m Motor Yacht requires a steward/ess and deckhand. Due to the cabin arrangements it would suit a couple or same sex. Caribbean this winter. The stew ideally would have some hospitality experience and must be a hard working individual. STCW95 would be great. Initially this is a seasonal role starting October/November through to April and we will be offering the industry rates for US waters paid in dollars. The yacht is mainly private but will be chartering over there. Crew of four.
