WatersportsLong Range Radio Certificate
A comprehensive course in long range radio communication for those undertaking extended offshore voyages out of normal VHF range.
Covers single side band (SSB), medium and high frequency (MF and HF) communication protocol and equipment operation. Taught through a combination of theory and practical sessions, you will become familiar with Digital Selective Calling (DSC), Search and Rescue Transponders (SART), Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBS), NAVTEX and INMARSAT satellite communications. The final day includes two theory exams and a practical / oral assessment.
Pre-requisite experience:
None required, although knowledge of phonetic alphabet is useful
